“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Matthew 6:25-34
At times we tend to over-complicate faith and overlook how very practically Jesus taught at times. Here in Japan, we just had the Sakura bloom. Every year, the entire nation waits patiently for these beautiful blossoms to bloom. I tree at full bloom is in every sense of the word; stunning. When they finally arrive, it calls for celebration. People gather around the trees, feast, laugh, or simply just sit taking in the sheer beauty. Yet these precious flowers are here for a fleeting week or so, less if there is a sudden rainstorm. In ancient times, the Samurai used this as a symbol to represent how delicate and fleeting life is.
The sheer beauty of these flowers is astounding, and God designed them to be this way. He designed these delicate blossoms with the utmost attention to detail. The genetic process that leads to every year’s blossoms has been an amazing biological process that has taken ages to come into what we behold today. Yet, they are scattered and gone in the wind.
If this is all of the work and care and attention God has poured over eons for us to be able to delight in these sights…..how much more did He care to have you now…wherever you are…sitting…standing…reading this right now. You are here…NOW…because He loves you…put your trust in Him. DO what you can, always in thanksgiving, and remember that He has promised to carry you through. He loves you. More than tiny birds or beautiful blossoms, you are his beloved.
